First In the Nation

This week, Iowans across the state gathered together with their neighbors to participate in the first-in-the-nation caucuses.  Iowans take great price in the caucuses, and are the best qualified to vet Presidential candidates.  The caucuses also are the foundation for setting party policies and building the party apparatus.

I was very encouraged by the turnout I saw at several caucus sites in our area.  More civic engagement is good for our Democracy.

Chris Cilizza, a prominent national political reporter recently put together a piece: "Why Iowa Rules."  Number one on his list:

"If you care at all about politics, it is the single best place in the country to live."

This is unquestionably true.
